How to use

Work on a protected area as spills can damage sensitive surfaces, such as polished, cellulose surfaces and fabrics. Wearing gloves is recommended.

Make sure all surfaces to be bonded are clean and dry, free from dust, dirt, and grease. When bonding leather, avoid spills onto the shiny side as a mark will be left.

Application

  • To bond non-absorbent surfaces such as metal or glass, use a brush to apply a thin film of adhesive to both surfaces. Allow 5 to 10 minutes drying time and then, having correctly positioned the surfaces, press them together firmly. The bond will be instant and non-adjustable.
  • If one or both surfaces are absorbent apply a generous film of adhesive to one surface only and immediately join the two surfaces together under pressure. Note: using this technique, initial bond strengths will be lower.

This Bostik glue can be used for repairing leather shoes, leather goods, belts, bags and watch straps. It is also suitable as a glue for leather bags, handbags, luggage, lampshades, picture frames, upholstery, jewellery, books and marquetry pieces. For users looking for a leather fixer, Bostik Leather Glue provides a practical bonding solution for household repair and assembly tasks on compatible materials.

Cleaning

  • Remove surplus adhesive using nail varnish remover or acetone.

Limitations

The best glue for leather depends on the material type, surface condition and repair need, so always test on a small hidden area before full application. This adhesive is highly flammable and should be kept away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, avoid inhaling vapours and keep out of reach of children. Solvents may damage some surfaces, so test before cleaning with acetone."""

Frequently asked questions

Can you repair leather with super glue?

You should only use Bostik Leather Repair glue to repair your damaged leather or imitation leather. The unique formula of the adhesive provides important flexibility to ensure a long-lasting, strong, water-resistant bond so that your repair remains intact for years to come.

Super glues do not provide the necessary flexibility that leather requires for an effective repair.

How do I prepare the surfaces to be glued?

  1. Ensure surfaces are clean; dry free from grease and loose materials.
  2. For best results, surfaces and surroundings should be pleasantly warm.
  3. Take out a sheet of dots from the wallet.
  4. Fold and then tear off, along the perforations, to remove as many dots as required.
