How much weight can Blu Tack® hold?

Bostik Blu Tack® does not have a single weight limit that applies to every situation. Its holding performance depends on factors such as the surface type, surface condition, the size and weight of the item, and the amount of Blu Tack® used.

For the best results, use Bostik Blu Tack® on suitable clean surfaces and test it with the item you intend to display before relying on it for long-term mounting.

Is Blu Tack® tested on animals or made with any animals ingredients?

Blu Tack® is not tested on any animals nor does it contain ingredients made from animals nor by products of animals.

Is swallowing Blu Tack® dangerous?

Blu Tack® is a non-toxic, non-harmful substance and will not cause any problems if swallowed, only mild discomfort. If any discomfort experienced continues, we recommend seeking medical advice.

What age is Blu Tack suitable for?

Bostik Blu Tack is suitable for both children and adults. However, it is not recommended for children under three years of age.

For craft activities, school projects and creative use, younger children should always be supervised by an adult to help ensure Blu Tack is used safely and appropriately.

What surfaces can Blu Tack stick to?

Bostik Blu Tack can be used on a wide range of smooth surfaces, including glass, metal, plastic, painted walls and finished wood. The strength of the bond can vary depending on the condition and texture of the surface.

For the best results, apply Bostik Blu Tack to clean, dry surfaces that are free from dust, grease and loose materials. This helps maximise adhesion and keep lightweight items securely in place.

When does Blu Tack stick best?

Blu Tack performs best on clean, dry surfaces that are free from dust, grease and loose materials. Good surface preparation helps improve adhesion and keeps items securely in place.

Very high temperatures can affect performance. If a surface or room exceeds 70°C, Blu Tack may soften and become less effective at holding lightweight items.

Where is the best place to store Blu Tack®?

The best place to store Blu Tack® is in a tightly closed container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated location. Proper storage helps keep the product in good condition and ready for use when needed.

Will Blu Tack® leave a stain?

On some surfaces, after a long period of time, Blu Tack® can leave a slight oily mark. This can be removed using removers like citrus oils and desolvers, but as per the guidance of the suppliers. Before using these products, we recommend you test on a small inconspicuous area.

What is the shelf life of the adhesive I have bought and where can I store it?

The shelf life of adhesives varies from product to product, but typically ranges between one and two years from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly in dry conditions - usually between +5°C and +25°C. Once opened, the life of the product will be more limited – this is dictated by variables including the type of adhesive, how it is stored, and how much adhesive is left unused. For more information, refer to the product’s Technical Data Sheet.

What does viscosity mean?

Viscosity describes how easily a liquid flows. A low-viscosity adhesive is thinner and flows more easily, while a high-viscosity adhesive is thicker and is less likely to run or drip.

In adhesives and sealants, viscosity can affect application, spreadability and how the product performs on vertical or horizontal surfaces.
