How to use

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, rust, oil, and other contaminants.

We recommend a preliminary test of the compatibility of the adhesive with adjoining materials before use.

Application

  • To bond non-absorbent surfaces such as metal or glass, use a brush to apply a thin film of adhesive to both surfaces. Allow 5 to 10 minutes drying time and then, having correctly positioned the surfaces, press them together firmly. The bond will be instant and non-adjustable.
  • If one or both surfaces are absorbent apply a generous film of adhesive to one surface only and immediately join the two surfaces together under pressure. Note: using this technique, initial bond strengths will be lower.

Cleaning

  • Remove excess uncured sealant with a damp cloth or water immediately.
  • Cured sealant is best removed by mechanical scraping or sanding.
  • Use Bostik Handy Wipe towels to remove adhesive from skin.

FAQs

How do I choose the right adhesive?

If you're unsure which adhesive to use, try the Bostik Glue Guide.

The Bostik Glue Guide helps you identify the most suitable adhesive based on the materials you want to bond and the type of project you are working on. Whether you're repairing, crafting or completing a DIY project, it can help you choose the right product.

How do I prepare surfaces for gluing?

Before applying adhesive, ensure both surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil, rust and loose material.

Removing contaminants and old residues helps the adhesive bond more effectively and can improve the strength and durability of the finished bond.

What does the term 'viscosity' mean?

Viscosity is the measure of a fluid's resistance to flow. The higher the viscosity of a liquid, the thicker it is and the greater the resistance to flow.

Glue can be various measures of viscosity, with each measure having it's own benefits based on the application required. Low viscosity glue will spread easily, whereas high viscosity glue is ideal for vertical surfaces or areas that need a concentrated application.

What is the difference between a multipurpose glue and super glue?

The main difference between a multipurpose glue and a super glue is the drying time. A super glue bonds within seconds (almost instantly) and an all purpose adhesive bonds within minutes (typically within five minutes). Multipurpose glue is ideal for use on a wide range of substrates, including paper, whereas super glue is more suited for use on solid surfaces only.

What is the shelf life of the adhesive I have bought and where can I store it?

The shelf life of adhesives varies from product to product, but typically ranges between one and two years from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly in dry conditions - usually between +5°C and +25°C. Once opened, the life of the product will be more limited – this is dictated by variables including the type of adhesive, how it is stored, and how much adhesive is left unused. For more information, refer to the product’s Technical Data Sheet.
