How to use

For best results, ensure surfaces are dry, clean and free from dust and grease. When bonding leather, avoid spills onto the shiny side as it may leave a mark.

  1. To bond absorbent surfaces such as leather and other fabrics, apply a generous film of leather glue to one surface only and immediately join the two surfaces together under pressure. If using on leather soles, lightly roughen the surfaces to be bonded with fine-grade sandpaper before applying the glue.
  2. To bond non-absorbent surfaces such as metal or glass, apply a thin film of adhesive to both surfaces. Allow 5 to 10 minutes drying time and then, having correctly positioned the surfaces, press them together firmly. The bond will be instant and non-adjustable.
  3. Replace cap immediately after use to prevent the adhesive from drying out and becoming unusable.
  4. A flexible bond is developed after one hour and maximum bond strength is achieved after approximately 24 hours.

How to remove leather glue

You can easily remove Bostik Leather Glue using nail varnish remover or acetone. It is important to test an inconspicuous area of the material first, to prevent damaging your garment.

FAQs

Can you repair leather with super glue?

You should only use Bostik Leather Repair glue to repair your damaged leather or imitation leather. The unique formula of the adhesive provides important flexibility to ensure a long-lasting, strong, water-resistant bond so that your repair remains intact for years to come.

Super glues do not provide the necessary flexibility that leather requires for an effective repair.

How do I prepare the surfaces to be glued?

Before applying glue, ensure that all surfaces are of sound nature and clean, dry and free from dust, grease or any other contamination.

What is the shelf life of the adhesive I have bought and where can I store it?

The shelf life of adhesives varies from product to product, but typically ranges between one and two years from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly in dry conditions - usually between +5°C and +25°C. Once opened, the life of the product will be more limited – this is dictated by variables including the type of adhesive, how it is stored, and how much adhesive is left unused. For more information, refer to the product’s Technical Data Sheet.
