Balloon monsters

Whip up some silly fun with this DIY Balloon Monsters project, great for hands-on creativity and sensory play 🎈. Fill balloons with couscous, sand, or another household fill using a funnel for a satisfying squishy base, then knot them tight. Cut quirky eyes, mouths, or horns from coloured cardboard and attach them using Bostik Blu Tack®, sticky but repositionable for perfect placement. Add expressive details or sparkles with Glitter Glue for character that pops. These playful monsters are easy to make, endlessly customisable, and perfect for imaginative play or classroom fun. A quirky activity that combines tactile crafting and creativity with just a few simple supplies!

Instructions

Step 1: Fill your balloon

Using the funnel, fill balloon with cous cous. Knot the end of the balloon.

(Note: You can fill with sand, but we wanted a more crunchy texture. What other items can you fill from your house?)

Tip

Once the sand reaches the top, push & squish it down into the base to allow more sand to be added. It creates a more solid base for the balloon monster to sit up.

Step 2: Cut out shapes

Cut cardboard shapes out to create the faces.

Step 3: Make faces

PVA or Blu Tack shapes and eyes onto balloons and decorate with Glitter Glue if desired.
